The 100 Castles Route is a well-signposted network of cycle paths in the Münsterland region, connecting more than 100 castles, palaces, manor houses and historic estates over a distance of around 960 kilometres.

On four sub-routes – north, south, east and west – cyclists can discover varied landscapes, quiet paths and numerous cultural and historical buildings. The route is mostly flat and ideal for day trips or multi-day tours.

Northern Route – Castles in the green north

The Northern Route takes you on a 305-kilometre journey through the northern Münsterland region, past magnificent manor houses, romantic moated castles and through a vast, open park landscape. Perfect for those seeking peace and quiet and nature lovers.

Ostkurs – The green connection to history

The Eastern Route (approx. 240 km) connects old manor houses with lively towns such as Warendorf and Telgte – and is characterised by a peaceful, almost meditative landscape with forests, fields and river meadows.

Southern route – the baroque splendour route

The southern route of the 100 Castles Route takes you on a 210-kilometre journey through the southern Münsterland region – and right into the heart of a world full of baroque castles, extensive parklands and living history.

Westkurs – Zwischen Niederlande, Schlössern und Flussauen

Der Westkurs (ca. 310 km) kombiniert imposante Bauwerke mit ländlichem Charme – und führt dich teilweise bis an die niederländische Grenze. Wer Abwechslung und ländliche Idylle sucht, ist hier genau richtig.
